franchise design process
In mid-2006, R2R studio was approached with a unique challenge – to create the architectural design ‘backbone’ for a young and aspiring Franchise Concept. This challenge involved the establishment of a standard design process, the implementation of design standards regarding shop layouts, and the introduction of corporate vendors among others.
By designing our client’s processes from the ground up, R2R studio was able to provide our corporate client with the tools necessary to attain a high level of consistency as well as the ability to govern the design and construction process. This achieved, the focus then turned to the standardization of design elements such as equipment, millwork, furniture, and finishes to further streamline the design and building of individual shops.
R2R studio also worked in conjunction with corporate personnel to identify and then facilitate the working relationship with many national vendors. This combined effort not only created savings for the franchisees, it also created product consistency for each facility.
R2R studio’s primary roles have now developed into those of chief designer, material resource center, franchisee design consultation, and ongoing design evolution to maintain and advance the image of the corporate shops. We also assist our client and the franchisees by establishing relationships with local and regional architects. This portion of the process is integral to the success of franchise shops due to the intricacies involved regarding potential sites and area locations.
There were many challenges to overcome and R2R studio has enjoyed and grown with each. If you would like, we would be happy to present our process in person and we look forward to the possibility of helping you and your company with the development of your concept.
