Mews is defined as a British term for a row or street of houses or apartments that have typically been converted from stables—or as one developer saw it, an old car repair shop. Master Battery got a second chance on life when the developer, originally from England, used this definition as his inspiration for The Mews Urban Village. The old car repair shop, located on the outskirts of Historic Old City, has been reimagined from one building into two, creating a new live-work urban complex.
The combination of old brick walls and timber are complemented by new, contrasting materials, such as subway tile in the kitchen and hardwood floors throughout the living areas. The exterior, updated with an EIFS façade and revitalized windows, catch the eye and make a statement. Both residential and commercial spaces are enhanced by private outdoor spaces as well as a public courtyard for larger gatherings.
